Help On Choosing The Right 10Si Alternator
When choosing a Delco Remy type 10Si model alternator, there are
many considerations. First, what is the polarity of your application.
Many cars and trucks use a negative ground configuration, where the case
has a direct connection to the negative battery post. Tractors and some
automobiles use a positive ground, meaning the case has direct contact
with the positive post. Positive grounded alternators should be
insulated from the vehicle's common ground, if it is negative. Next, a
voltage should be chosen. Most cars and trucks again use a 12 volt
system, but some tractors may use 6 volts. The 8 volt option is very
uncommon outside of a custom applications. All of these voltages have
different amperage ratings. Amperage is a function of voltage and the
number of windings on the stator, higher voltage and a greater number of
windings will produce more power in the form of amperes. Further, you
can choose between a standard voltage regulator for direct replacement
in a vehicle or a self-exciting voltage regulator for a custom

10Si Series 6 Volt Alternators. The 6 Volt 10Si series alternator is great for converting old Ford tractors from generator to alternator charging. Look in the "Mounting Brackets" section to convert this alternator to almost any application.

10Si Series 8 Volt Alternator. Used on some tractors and other applications. The 8 Volt 10Si series alternator may be used to give a 6 volt system a little extra power, but be sure to replace bulbs and gauge lights before switching alternators.

10Si Series 12 Volt Alternators. The most common voltage for the 10Si alternator. Available in SE as well as Standard hookup. Positive and negative bridge rectifiers available.

10Si Series Alternator Conversion Kits. Convert almost any 10Si series alternator into any combination of 6, 8 or 12 volt charging output and Self Exciting (One Wire) or Standard voltage regulator hookup.

10Si Series Wide Belt Pulleys. These V-Belt pulleys allow the 10Si to be used on many types of tractor and farm equipment. The extra wide v-belt pulley comes with an extra long pulley nut.
